THE DESIGN PROCESS
Human-Centred Design Approach

DISCOVER
I joined the project with preliminary research and early-stage wireframes in place. My role was to refine and expand these foundations, transforming them into a fully realised, user-centric product through iterative design, incorporating user feedback and adding valuable features.
Stakeholder Interviews & Usability Testing
I began the design process by conducting stakeholder interviews to align on the product’s features, systems and objectives. I then focused on improving customer onboarding and goal achievement experiences through multiple rounds of usability testing, pinpointing key areas for enhancement.

Design Sprint for Financial Fitness
A standout feature of the product is its financial fitness tool, designed to help users assess their financial health and money management style. The development process began with a four-day design sprint in which I collaborated with a multidisciplinary team—including a product owner, a program developer, and two business analysts—to validate research assumptions and uncover design opportunities.

The Design Sprint Process
Our efforts resulted in an eleven-page MVP that received positive feedback from five participants during usability testing. This validation laid a solid foundation for further refining and developing the financial fitness feature.

User Interviews
Building on usability testing insights, I conducted one-on-one interviews and resonance testing to delve deeper into users’ mental models, concerns, and confusion around financial terms and conditions in the app. These findings informed refinements to the app’s design and communication strategies, ensuring financial information became more accessible and user-friendly.
DEFINE
Research Synthesis
We synthesised research data through affinity mapping, identifying key macro themes and micro pain points in the user experience. These insights directly shaped our design recommendations and served as a foundation for subsequent development stages.

User Mental models
During data synthesis, we identified recurring patterns in our participants' beliefs and behaviours that shaped how they interacted with the app. These insights allowed us to align the design more closely with their expectations and needs.

User Flow
We iterated on user flows based on each testing round, building the foundation for the customer journey map. This process highlighted specific pain points and opportunities to enhance the user experience.

Customer journey map
We developed a customer journey map to visualise a holistic view of the end-to-end user experience, which enabled us to facilitate stakeholder discussions on proposed business recommendations and helped identify and prioritise key focus areas for future project phases.

DEVELOP
From Sketches to Prototypes
Following stakeholder approval of the customer journey and business recommendations, we began an iterative design process, refining prototypes from low to mid and eventually high fidelity. We actively sought internal feedback and conducted usability testing with customers, ensuring their insights were incorporated into each iteration.

DELIVER
User Interface Design
I led the effort to create three distinct UI design variations using Sketch, ensuring they were visually compelling and aligned with the brand's identity and recognition.
Research methods I applied in UI design included:
- UI Trend Analysis
- Desirability Testing - Evaluated user preferences to refine the product's personality, brand identity, and overall visual aesthetics

Design Handover
Once the designs were finalised, I created a handover package containing a style guide and a component library for the developer team.
